Subject / Heraldry

The Vyborg District's coat of arms and flag are the official approved symbols of the Municipal Union “Vuborgskiy Municipalny rayon” (The Vyborg Municipal District) (they were approved with the decision of the Soviet of Deputies of the Municipal Union of the Vyborg District of 13 February 2007, No.104). The heraldic description of the coat of arms: “The field is traversed with dark red and azure stripes. On the dark red field there are three golden crowns (1 crown and 2 ones). They have semi-precious stones of the different tinctures along the rim and five visible merlons: three leaf-shaped big merlons and two smaller merlons. The each merlon has a silver pearl on the top. On the azure field there is a golden letter “W”. The coat of arms copies the historic Vyborg Gubernia's coat of arms of the 19th century. The flag is a two-colored (red and dark blue horizontal stripes) rectangle sheet in the ratio of width to length 2:3. The flag reproduces the coat of arms drawing. In April of 2007 the coat of arms and the flag have not been included in the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation yet.
