Nezhgostitsi, a country estate

Nezhgostitsi, a country estate (the sanatorium "Krasny Val", the Luga district). It was the family estate of the boyars Sukins. In the 20th century the estate belonged to A.Ya. Sukin, the commandant of the Peter and Paul Fortress. Under A.Ya. Sukin in the 1820-1830s two-storied wooden manor-house with the attic was built, a garden and landscape park were laid out. At the same time the second name of the estate Val was appeared. In the 19th century the estate was thrived and considered an exemplary one in St. Petersburg Gubernia. Since 1860 A.S. Glinka became the estate owner. In 1885 it passed to his son N.B. Glinka-Mavrin. In 1904 the estate was sold for gambling-debts. In the eve of the revolution under the last owners the estate was fallen into decay. Close to Nezhgostitsi there was a so called Krasnaya (Red) Dacha where N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov lived and worked in 1888-1890 and in 1892. During the Soviet period the sanatorium "Krasny Val" was organized on the territory of the estate. During World War II the historic building were pulled down. After the war new blocks were built. A small part of the landscape park has been intacted.
