Preobrazhenskoye, a country estate

Subject / Architecture/Country estates

Preobrazhenskoye, a country estate (the village of Preobrazhenka, the Kingisepp district). In 1797 Paul I granted villages of Novaya and Ostrov, located in the River Luga lower reach, to Colonel Ye.K. Renne. In 1841 his widow sold the estate yo A.F. Bippen. By that time the estate consisted of two parts: the grange of Korovina on the River Luga left bank, the grange of Preobrazhenskaya on the rigt bank. In 1869 heirs divided the estate. The Full Counsillor of State V.N. Bippen became the owner of Preobrazhenskoye. He equipped the estate with modern services and utilities, laid out the park. The building of the stone manor-house was completed in the 1870s. It had architectural elements of Russian and "brick" styles. There were not service constructions in the estate as it used by owners only as the dacha. After the revolution of 1917 a mental hospital was placed there. At the present time the manor-house has been ruined. On the estate territory there is a Rehabilitation Centre of drug addicts and alcoholics "Novaya zhizn" ("The New Life").
