Raskulitsi, a country estate

Subject / Architecture/Country estates

Raskulitsi, a country estate (an uninhabited tract located nearby the village of Cherenkovitsi, the Volosovo district). Since 1773 the estate of Raskulitsi belonged to the Vakhtins family. In 1853 Artillery Lieutenant-General N.V. Vakhtin sold the estate to Ye.D. Korf who started to equip it with modern amenities. A wooden manor-house, Swiss house, service buildings, surrounding the front yard, were built. The landscape park was laid out near the pond. A small island was made in the centre of the park. The stone Church of the Transfiguration (the project of the architect I.D. Chernik) was built and consecrated in 1861 on Korf's resources. Members of the Vakhtins' and Korfs' families were buried on the church cemetery. In 1914 the estate was bought by Barony G.M. Vrangel, the owner of the estate in Torosovo. On our days the manor-house was ruined (only wall fragments are intacted), the park was neglected. The church is ruined, the cemetery is put in order.
