K.I. Bistrom, monument to

The monument to K.I. Bistrom (the town of Kingisepp). It was erected on the burial place of General K.I. Bistrom in his estate of Romanovka. The hero of the Patriotic War of 1812 General Bistrom was in command of the Life Guards Chasseur regiment. The monument was erected at the suggestion of Grand Duke Mikhail Pavlovich. The monument was being built on donations of soldiers and officers of the Independent Guards Corps. The project of the memorial was made by A.I. Krutov, an inspector of classes of the Academy of Arts. The monument was made in the classical traditions. A bronze lion (the sculptor P.K. Klodt) put a foreleg on the orb - the simbol of State system was erected on the rectangular granite pedestal. The bronze medallion with the portrait and inscription "To Adjutant-General K.I. Bistrom from the Guards Corps as a sign of the gratitude" was fixed on the granite pedestal (the medallion was not intacted). On three sides of the pedestal the names of the great battles where Bistron took part: Borodino, Varna, Ostrolenka were carved.
