"The Lembolovo Fortification", memorial, the

The memorial "The Lembolovo Fortification" is a part of the memorial "The Green Belt of Glory". It is located at the 39th km of the road to the town of Priozersk on the River Muratovka northern bank close to the settlement of Lembolovo. The memorial was constructed by works of the Vasileostrovsky district of Leningrad in 1967. The authors of the memorial were the sculptor B.A. Svinin, the architects A.I. Gutov and Yu.M. Tsarikovsky, the engineer N.I. Sedov. 79 Leningrad enterprises (among them: the Baltic and Steel-rolling plants, "Sevkabel", "Elektroapparat" ) took part in building the memorial. The memorial design makes possible to see the memorial from every side. There are several monuments in "The Lembolovo Fortification" memorial: the vertical stele "The Motherland-Mother", the pylon "An Excerpt of Battle" and the pylon "Dates of Defence 1941-1944". The constructions were added with an esplanade, foot-pathes, a flower bed with memorable stone. During building the defence sector with a pillbox, trenches and weapon emplacements was restored. The monument to pilots which directed their plane onto the enemy artillery front line in July 1942 was included into the memorial complex. The monument was constructed on the project of the architect M.N. Meisel, sculptors L.L. Mikhailenik and R.V. Melik-Akopyan in the settlement of lembolovo in 1965. Karpenko, Irina Aleksandrovna
