"lel of Tikhvin", a competition-festival of children choreogrphy groups

“TIKHVINSKY LEL” (“TIKHVIN LEL”), contest-festival of children’s dance groups. First it was held in 1991 in Tikhvin Town, gradually, it was transformed into a large-scale annual contest-festival of children’s amateur and folk art. The main founders and organizers are the Russian Federation Ministry of Culture and Mass Communications, the Leningrad Oblast Government, Administration of the Municipal Institution “Tikhvinsky Raion” (“Tikhvin District”), Tikhvin Town Administration, the Fund for promotion of children’s and youth’s art “Atlant” (Мoscow), etc. The contest has three nominations: variety show, classical and folk dance. The jury consists of famous ballet masters, honoured choreographers, actors and culture workers of Russia. They assess originality of performance, mastery, distinctive character of choreography, combination of music, choreography and costumes. The festival framework includes master-classes in all kinds of dances and also round tables of jury members with art groups’ leaders – a kind of advanced training for teachers and organizers of children’s art. The festival participants go on excursions to Memorial House-Museum of N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, Tikhvin Memorial History, Architecture and Art Museum. Rosina, Irina Valeryevna
