CENTRES OF SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES, state culture institutions, organizational and methodical centres of amateur and folk art and clubs. There are three such kind culture institutions in the Leningrad Oblast: 1) Centre of Social and Cultural Activities in Sosnovo Settlement, Priozersk District (2, Michurinskaya st.). Founder – Priozersk District Municipality. It was founded on the base of the House of Culture (opened in 1947). During 25 years it housed University of Culture under Society “Znaniye” (“Knowledge”). In 1972 the Centre organized a group “Lesnaya Skazka” (“Forest Fairy Tale”), existing nowadays; in 1985 – dance group “Vdokhnoveniye” (“Inspiration”); in 1986 – amateur theatre “Turandot”. The Centre houses clubs and amateur art groups “Veteran”, “Sosnovskiye Posidelky” (“Meetings in Sosnovo Settlement”), “Khorosheye Nastroyeniye” (“Good Mood”), “Dushy Zolotye Rossipy” (“Generous Soul”). 2) Public Centre of Social and Cultural Activities in Lodeinoye Pole Town (1, Uritskogo st.) was opened in 1990 on the base of Lodeinoye Pole House of Culture. In 1996 it was named after Y.P. Zakharov. The Centre houses the following art groups: singing and dancing group “Severnye Uzory” (“Northern Patterns”), “Russky Suvenir” (“Russian Souvenir”), dance studio “Ulibka” (“Smile”), choir “Krokha” (“Little One”), Lodeinoye Pole public comedy theatre, academic choir, applied art studio “Masteritsa” (“A Good Hand”), amateur associations – clubs “Buratino” (“Pinoccio”), “Veteran”, literary association “Verf” (“Shipyard”). 3) House of Russian Folk Art in Novoselye Village, Slantsi District was founded in 1996 and was aimed at revival of folk crafts and trades, education and vocational guidance of school children, popularization of Russian folklore. Kinds of folk crafts: embroidery, wickerwork and making things from silver bark, making wooden toys, modeling from clay and flour, making things from grass. The House also houses a club of ceremonies revival “Gornitsa” (“Chamber”), choirs “Svoyasi”, “Nafaniya”, “Dukhovnoye Peniye” (“Religious Singing”), etc. Since 1999 exhibition of applied art items has been open all year round.
