"Volkhovskiye ogni" ("Volkhov Lights"), a newspaper

"Volkhovskiye ogni" ("Volkhov Lights") (Volkhov Town, 26/3 Kommunari Street), social, political newspaper of Volkhov disrict and Volkhov Town. It was founded on 4 May 1919 as organ of uyezd committee of All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) and executive committee of Soviet of deputies, it was called «Volkhov's Worker». Till 1926 it came out in Novaya Ladoga .In 1922 a newspaper « The Herald of Uyezd Executive Committee of Novaya Ladoga» was associated with «Volkhov's Worker». In 1935 there was travelling editorial staff. In 1930-56 the newspaper was called «The Stalin's Truth», в 1956-91 – «Volkhov's Truth». In 1991 it was re-registered as the organ of local administration and labour collective, got its present title. At present the constitutors of a newspaper are the Committee on information policy and telecommunication of the Leningrad Oblast, administration of Volkhov district and editorial staff. It is weekly newspaper, circulation is 5 thousand. It mainly reflects events of local political, economic,social and cultural life , publishes official documents, materials of political parties.It organizes chess tournaments, quizzes for readers.
