«Vyborg» ( Vyborg Town, 9 Mira Street ), informational mass newspaper of Vyborg district. It was founded on 6 October 1940 as organ of district and city committees of All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) under the title «Viipurskii bolshevik».It didn't come out in 1941-45 . In 1945-52 it was called « The Bolshevik of Vyborg », in 1952-90 – «The Communist of Vyborg». Since1991 it has been re-registered as the organ of Vyborg administration , got its present title. At present the constitutors of a newspaper are the Committee on information policy and telecommunication of the Leningrad Oblast, municipal institution "Vyborg district of Leningrad oblast" and editorial staff. It is publishing 4 times a week.It is spread in Vyborg and Vyborg district. Circulation is 3,5 thousand, weekend's circulation is 5 thousand. Since 2006 it has been an official organ for publications of towns' and villages' administration decisions of Vyborg district. The main aim of a newspaper is to inform readers about local events. Additional information bulletins (official decisions, documents,messages, etc) and special issues for residents of towns and villages of a district are publishing weekly.There is a regional column «Wyborgiana. Names and destinies», which is led by the historian M.N. Kostolomov. Traditionally editorial staff takes part in a festival of bardic song «Robinzonada», sports gathering «Vyborg's gold coin», during these events the festivals " Day of a newspaper" are held. On its day of foundation the newspaper organises voleyball tournaments Annually in October. The building ,where editorial staff is located , was constructed in 1902 , in this house editorial offices of periodicals and printing-houses were located traditionally.
