"Kirishsky Fakel" ("Kirishi Torch"), a newspaper

"Kirishsky Fakel" ("The Kirishi Torch") (13 Heroes Prospect, Kirishi Town), a social and political newspaper of the Kirishi District. It was founded on June 14, 1931 as the the organ of the District Committee of VKP(b) (Communist Party of the Soviet Union (Bolsheviks)) and the District Soviet named "Kirishsky Kolkhoznik" ("Kolkhoznik of Kirishi Town"). Till 1943 the newspaper editorial office was placed in Budogoshch settlement. During the occupation in 1942 the newspaper was published in secret. From 1960 till 1962 the newspaper was named "Za kommunistichesky trud" ("For Communist Labour"). In 1991 the newspaper was re-registered as the organ of the local administration and the work collective and got the present name. On present days the newspaper founders are the Leningrad Oblast Committee for Information Policy and Telecommunication, the Kirishi District Administration and the newspaper editorial board. The newspaper is published once a week, its circulation is seven thousand copies. The newspaper throws light on the economic and social life of the district, informs about different events, provides advertising services. In the newspaper there is the local history column "Vechnoye. Netlenoye. Rodnoye." (The Eternal. Imperishable. Native") (the permanent author - the expert of local lore M.A. Potanina). Meetings with readers, days of the newspaper are held at the editorial office, the Deputy's Club is assembled there and people of Kirishi together with local deputies discuss the town problems.
