Grigory Ivanovich Karpov (1824- 1900), an architect. He graduated from the St. Petersburg Building College in 1848. He worked as an architect of the Alexander Nevski Monastery. From 1861 he became the architect of the St. Petersburg Eparchy. G.I. Karpov reconstructed and did up capital cathidrals. In St. Petersburg he built the Church of the Holy Trinity in cenoby of the Alexander Nevski Monastery (1861-1868), the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the Hikolskoye cemetery (1868-1871), scores of tenement blocks, production, commercial and storage buildings and others. He was the author of the project of the Cathedral of the Transfiguration and Our Saviour and sketes on Valaam Island. He was a coauthor of the reconstruction project of the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Christ in Vyborg Town (1863-1866). G.I. Karpov jointly with the architect N.I. Rzhanov built the Church of St. Andrew, the "First Called" Apostle in the village Palkeala (now it is Zamostye Village, Priozersk District; it was not intacted). In coauthorship with the architect A.Ya. Silin he built the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village Bolshaya Izhora (1869-1869, it was not intacted). He built the Church of St. Sergius, Hegumen of Radonezh in the village of Bolshaya Yashchera (1871-1872, now it is ruined), the Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Lukinskoye village (1882-1892). Karpov jointly with the architect V.V. Vindelbandt built the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Luga Town (1873-1887). Grigory Ivanovich Karpov was buried in St. Theodore Church of the Alexander Nevski Monastery (the grave was not intacted). . Margolis, Aleksandr Davidovich
