Yegor Timofeyevich Sokolov (1750 - 1824), an architect, practical builder. Sokolov was a apprentice, assistant and successor of the architect Yu.M. Felten. In St. Petersburg Y.T. Sokolov led the constructionof the main building of the Academy of Arts (1776-1786), participated in the construction of St. Mikhael Castle (1897-1800???), rebuilt the building of the Central Post Office (1803). His most significant construction was the Public Library corner block (1795-1801). During 1784-1786 Sokolov built the Church of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God in Putilovo Village (it was not survived). From 1786 to 1789 Sokolov led the construction of an Emperor Palace in Pella estate according to I.E. Starov's project. In the 1890s he participated in rebuilding the Ropsha palace and park ensemble.
