Uno Werner Ulberg (1879, Vyborg Town - 1944), an architect. He graduated a secondary school in Vyborg Town. In 1903 he received the certificate of degree at the Finland Polytechnic College and went for several educational trips to European countries. In 1906 U.W. Ulberg together with K.A. Gyulden founded an architect's bureau in Vyborg Town. The first important Ulberg's building was the dwelling house of the company Khakman and Co. (1907-1908; 5, Severny Val Street). It was a model of the National romanticism style architecture. In Vyborg Town Uno Ulberg built more then ten buildings. Among them there was a sugar warehouse of the company Khakman and Co (1925; 8, Progonnaya Street), the building of the editorial offices of "Karyala" newspaper (1929; 19, Leningradsky Prospekt; now the Hotel "Vyborg" is placed in the building), a picture-gallery and a school of painting on the bulwark Pantserlaks (1930; 1, Luzhskaya Street), the building of the District Archives (1993; 1, Shturm Street). In 1923 Uno Werner Ulberg reconstructed the Circular Tower. U.W. Ulberg was a member of the Vyborg Municipality (1914-1929), a city architect (1931-1936). He actively protect ancient monuments. From 1936 Ulberg was the chief architect if the Medical Board in Helsinki.
