Mordvinov, Isaaky Petrovich (1871, Tikhvin Town -1925, Tikhvin Town), a local historian, literary man, enlightener. From 1885 Mordvinov worked as a volost clerk in the Bolshegorsky volost of the Tikhvin uyezd. V.D. Krenke has the great influence on his choosing of the work. I.P. Mordvinov finished the Novgorod Alexander School in 1890, he got pedagogical education, he taught in schools. He participated in the revolutionary activity, was arrested more than once. I.P. Mordvinov was a publicist and literary man, also he wrote for children. His first works were published in 1892. His works were published in periodicals "Russky uchitel" ("The Russian Teacher"), "Revelskiye izvestiya" ("The Revel News"), "Novgorodsky sever" ("The Novgorod North"), "Nauka I zhizn" ("The Science and Life"), "Vestnik trezvosti" ("The Bulletin of Sobriety"), "Trezvaya zhizn" ("The Sober Life"), "Strekoza" ("The Dragonfly"), "Oskolki" ("Splinters"), "Beseda" ("The Conversation"), "Rodnik" ("The Spring Water"), "Svetlyachok" ("The Glow-worm"), "Solnishko" ("The Sun"), "Russky arkhiv" ("The Russian Archive"), "Iistorichesky vestnik" ("the Historic Bulletin"). Mordvinov was keen on the local history, in 1911 he published the work "Tikhvinskaya starina" ("The Tikhvin Old Times"). In 1913 Mordvinov organized the Tikhvin department of the Novgorod Antiquities Lovers Society and became its secretary. From 1914 Mordvinov published the local history magazine "Tikhvinets" ("A Tikhvin Citizen") and children's magazine "Nasha shkola" ("Our School"). In 1915 Mordvinov compiled and published scientific programme of researching Chukhars (Vepses), collected archaeological and ethnographical material at the south of the Tikhvin uyezd. I.P. Mordvinov was the first editor of the Tikhvin uyezd newspaper "Nash Kray" ("Our Land", 1918), participated in publishing "Tikhvinsky uchitel" ("The Tikhvin Teacher", 1921), published ABC Book. From 1919 Mordvinov carried out the study of documents of the Tikhvin Monastery of the Assumption, he prepared the work about monasteries of Tikhvin. In 1925 Mordvinov's local historic work "Stary Tikhvin I Nagornoye Obonezhye" ("Old Tikhvin and Mountainous Onega Lake Land") has been issued. In 1926 "Tikhviniana", a bibliography material of the Tikhvin uyezd compiled by Mordvinov and supplemented by V.I. Ravdonikas, was published in the collection "Tikhvinsky kray" ("The Tikhvin Land". In total more then 700 Mordvinov's works were published. He wrote about 250 poems, some of them were included in school reading-books. Having the art talent, Mordvinov illustrated some of his editions. I.P. Mordvinov was buried at the semetery near the Tikhvin Monastery of the Assumption.
