Yefremov, Ivan Antonovich (1907, Vyritsa - 1972), a writer, palaeontologist. Yefremov was born in the family of the local saw-mill owner in Vyritsa settlement. In 1935 he graduated from the Geological Survey Faculty of the Leningrad Institute of Mines. From 1935 Yefremov participated in geological and palaeontological field works to Transcaucasia, the Middle Asia, the Eastern Siberia, Mongolia, the Far East. He was a Doctor of Biology from 1940, the author of the monograph "Tafonomiya and geologicheskaya letopis" ("Tafonomia and Geological Chronicle", 1950; the Stalin Prize in 1952). From 1944 Yefremov wrote science-fiction stories, narratives and novels: "Na krayu oikumeni" ("At the edge of Oikumena", 1949), "Yumannost Andromeda" ("Andromeda Nebula", 1957), "Serdtse zmei" (The Heart of Snake", 1959), "Lezviye britvi" ("The Blade of Razor"; 1962), "Chas Byka" ("The Time of Bull", 1968), "Tais Afinskaya" (Tais of Athens"; 1972) and others. He lived in Vyritsa settlement in Andreyevskaya Street near the Railway Station (the house was not survived). Ivan Antonovich Yefremov was buried at the Komarovo settlement cemetery (the Kurortny District of Saint Petersburg).
