The Slantsi Museum of the Local History (Slantsi Town, 14 Kirov Street) was founded in 1978. The museum collections include more then 11 thousand items. The museum expositions tell about the development of shale oil mining and shale-distilling industry in the Leningrad Oblast; the history of miner's settlement which got the status of a town in 1949. The special department is devoted to events of World War II, partisan's movement in the district. From 1979 the exhibition hall has been working in the museum where exbition of amateur and folk arts and others are held. The museum is visited by 5 thousand people a year.
