LISTVENKA, a village in Boksitogorsk District. Population: 34. Located on the right bank of the Kolp River. It is on the Olyeshi-Somino motor road having access to the Novaya Ladoga-Yaroslavl route. The village has a street-type planning. Several Mesolithic sites are known in the environs of L.; they are the oldest in the east of Leningrad Oblast. At the local graveyard there is one of the Oblast’s oldest monuments of wooden architecture, the church of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin (1720, iconostasis dated 1599.) A carved choir gallery and templons with images of saints have survived in the church interior. The following inscription was found on the lowermost templon of the iconostasis, “...in the year 7108 [1599], on the eighth day of September, God’s servant peasant Yeftefey Timofeev, serf of Danila Klobakin, Patrikey’s son, and his brethren erected this church in the name of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin...” The church was restored in the 1990s.
