The Veps National Culture Society (S.Petersburg, 15 Pushkinskaya Street) is a voluntary organization of S.Petersburg. It is was founded in 2000 and officially registered in 2004. The aims of the Society are keeping, studying and developing the Veps language and national culture. The main tasks are "looking for and joining of Veps of Saint-Petersburg, informing them about the national cultural life, in the first place about the work of the Veps Culture Society in Petrozavodsk; distribution of the newspaper "Kodima" (if it's possible); giving help to the Veps students in Saint-Petersburg; working on developing Veps' written language, studying the Veps language; making contacts with national cultural voluntary organizations of related peoples, developing all-round collaboration with them". The Society has a department of science and education, a student section. The Society also carries out educational, cultural and information programs related to the Veps population of the Leningrad Oblast and works in the close connection with the Veps Society of Vyborg. The members of the Society are scientists, students, representatives of the areas of culture, art and education. The general director of the Society is I.V.Brodsky, the president is V.P.Trofimov.
