"The Road of Life" (Kokorevo village, the Vsevolozhsk district)

"The Road of Life", a museum (Kokorevo Village, the Vsevolozhsk district). The people's museum was fonded in the one-storeyed wooden building of a former village school in 1969. In Nivember of 1941 in the building there was the command post for organising the ice road, then the headquarters of the military motor road No. 101 (VAD - 101), in winter of 1941-1942 the headquarters for leading the work of "The Road of Life" on the western coast of Ladoga Lake. During the navigation of 1942-1943 it was the main signal office centre of Leningrad with the Mainland. From 1989 the museum became a branch of the State Memorial Museum of the Defence and Siege of Leningrad. Photographs, communications facilities, items of military everyday life, documents and personal things of the veterans of "The Road of Life" are presented in the museum. The diorama of the total area of 24 square metres showing the work of the Ladoga ice road in winter of 1941-1942 is placed in the centre of the exposition.
