"Idols of the 21 nd century", festival

“KUMIRY XXI VEKA” (“XXI CENTURY IDOLS”), oblast festival of young variety talents. The aim of the festival is to find and support young talented variety singers and dancers. The festival was organized in 2000 and is held annually. Sponsors: Culture Committee and Committee on Physical Culture, Sport, Tourism and the Youth Policy under the Leningrad Oblast Government, Charitable Fund “Kumiry XXI Veka” (“XXI Century Idols”). Everybody aged from 13 to 30 can take part in the festival. Qualifying competitions are firstly held in the oblast Municipal Institutions and then semifinals take place in St.Petersburg. The festival is finished with a gala-concert in the Grand Concert hall “Oktyabrsky” . Traditionally the gala-concert is opened by previous years’ prize-winners. Among the prize-winners 2006 (about 50 participants) one can find dancing groups “Slavianochka” (Kommunar Town), “Surpriz” (“Surprise”) (Taytsi Urban Settlement); studio “Solnyshko” (“Little Sun”) (Gatchina Town); variety and sport dancing studio “Mig” (“Blink”) (Vyborg Town) and other soloists and groups.
