Luga children musical school named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov

LUGA TOWN CHILDREN’S MUSICAL SCHOO NAMED AFTER N.A RIMSKY-KORSAKOV (64, Kirova Av., Luga Town). It was founded in 1961, founder is Municipal Institution “Luzhsky Raion” (“Luga District”) administration. The maim specializations: piano, string and wind orchestra instruments, folk music instruments. The school houses a teachers’ singing group “Barokko” (“Baroque”) and folk music group “Zorenka” (“Dawn”). During the period of its existence the school has trained all in all more than 1600 students, 350 students became professional musicians. For contribution into popularization of N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov’s music the school was given the composer’s name in 1993. The school holds regional festivals “N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov na Luzhskoy Zemle” (“N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov on Luga Land”); it took part in producing a film, a video and a booklet about composer’s creative activity and cooperates with the Fund named after Rimsky-Korsakov. Festival-contest “Muzyka Voennykh Let” (“War Times Music”) has been annually held in Luga Town since 1993 on the school’s initiative.
