Kirishi Town coat of arms and flag, the

The Kirishi Town's coat of arms and flag are official approved symbols of the Municipal Union “Kirishskoe gorodskoe poselenie” (the urban-type settlement of Kirishi) (they were approved with the decision of the Soviet of Deputies of 26 June 2006, No.14/88). The heraldic description of the coat of arms: “Within the azure field there is a silver circle which is surrounded with azure flame with two tips (the right tip is less than left one and looks like a drop). At the circle sides there are two noses of ancient boats that are directed from the circle. Under the circle there is the silver wavy dented sash.” The ancient boats symbolize trade routes “iz varyag v greki” (from Varangians to Greeks) and “iz grekov v arabu” (from Greeks to Arabs). The trade routes passed on the river Volkhov. The silver circle with the flame symbolizes the fuel and energy complex of the town. The flag is a rectangle sheet in the ratio of width to length 2:3. The flag renders the coat of arms composition in blue and white colours. The coat of arms was registered in the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation under No.2469, and the flag was registered under No.2470. Chistyakov, Anton Yuryevich
