Subject / Heraldry

The Tosno District's coat of arms is the official approved heraldic emblem of the Municipal Union “Tosnenskiy rayon” (The Tosno District) (the coat of arms was approved with the decision of the Representative Assembly of the Municipal Union of 28 October 1998). The heraldic description of the coat of arms: “Within the green field there is a silver horseshoe. The dark red top is framed with gold. On the top there are three silver spruces which are touched each other with their lower parts of the tree crowns)”. The horseshoe symbolizes the history of springing up the town of Tosno as a post office station which was founded in the 18th century on the road from St-Petersburg to Moscow. The spruces are the symbol of the thick forests which are located in the district and are the basis of the district economy. The coat of arms was registered in the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation under No.2357.
