GATCHINA CENTRAL DISTRICT LIBRARY named after A.S. Pushkin (Gatchina Town, 15a Zvereva Street). Founded in April 1944. Since 1985 it has been in charge of centralized library system including all libraries of the district; since 2006 it has had the status of intersettlement library. Was named after A. S. Pushkin in 2004. Its general-purpose fund contains around 47,000 storage units; the library is a subscriber to 127 periodical titles. There are over 5,000 members, with over 30,000 visits annually and over 100,000 borrowings a year. For many years the library has been collecting documents and materials related to the life and work of A. S. Pushkin. It made literary- and- regional study exhibition “Istoriya Gatchinskoy zemli v zerkale Pushkinskikh khronik” (The History of Gatchina Land as Reflected in Pushkin Chronicles”. Traditionally, during the annual Leningrad Oblast Pushkin Festival the library staff open literary-and-musical “Pushkin Salons”. Since 2002 the library has been publishing a series of brochures “The Eminent Owners of Gatchina Country Estates”
