Lodeynoye Pole Central Children Library, the

THE LODEYNYOE POLE CENTRAL CHILDREN LIBRARY (10 Lenin Prospekt, Lodeynoye Pole Town). The history of the library goes back to Lodeynoye Pole Uyezd Central Children Library, which was founded in 1920s. In the years of the Great Patriotic War the library fund was fully destroyed, then in 1945 the library was restored. At present its fund numbers 37,600 items, with 2660 regular readers and 60,000 borrowings annually. The library organizes “literary trips” and contests. For many years it has run the program “Uroki rodinovedeniya” (The Lessons to Learn about our Homeland), “Muraveynik” (The Anthill) literary association for children of 7 to 11 years old works in library . It has also developed the programme “Jeticheskaya grammatika dlya podrostkov” (The Ethical Rules for Teenagers) aimed at middle and high school students. With the participation of the readers the library staff have developed and placed in the Internet a selection of materials “Svirskiy rubezh” (The Svir’ Defense Line), related to the defence of Lodeynoye Pole in the years of the Great Patriotic War.
