Vyritsa tapestries

VYRITSA URBAN SETTLEMENT TAPESTRIES, tapestry miniatures produced by public corporation "Uzor" ("Pattern") (2, Oredezh st., Vyritsa urb.settl.). "Uzor" ("Pattern") factory was founded in 1944 on the base of sewing cooperative (since1991-public corporation). Alongside with tapestry and furniture decorative materials the factory produces Vyritsa tapestries. Original drawings for them are designed by the artists - graduates of the St.Petersburg Industrial Art Academy. All in all they created about 250 items. In honour of the 70th anniversary of the Leningrad Oblast the factory produced a tapestry series with the sights of Gatchina Town ("Gatchinsky park" ("Gatchina Park"), "Priorat"("Priorate's Park")), Gatchina District ("Vyra" ("Vyra Village"), "Oredezh" ("The River Oredezh"), etc.) and St.Petersburg sights; in honour of A.S.Pushkin's 200th birthday - a tapestry series dedicated to the poet's life and creativity; to the order of the State Russian Museum a tapestry series depicting all its branches was designed. These tapestry series, which are much in demand as souvenirs, were designed basing on antique engravings and watercolours. Production of public cirporation "Uzor" ("Pattern") has been awarded a great number of prize-winner certificates and medals including a prize-winner certificate "Sto Luchshikh Tovarov Rossiy" ("100 Best Russian Goods").
