"Lodeynoye Pole" (58 Karl Marx Street, Lodeynoye Pole Town), a social and political newspaper of the Lodeynoye Pole District. The newspaper was founded on March 30, 1919 as the organ of the Vytegra Uyezd Committee of the Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) and the Executive Committee and named "The Star of Vytegra Town". Later it became the organ the Lodeynoye Pole District Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the District Soviet. During 1919-1921 the newspaper was published in Vytegra. In 1927 the newspaper "The Red Field" was joined with the newspaper "The Star of Vytegra Town". During 1920-1924 the newspaper was named "The Labour Word", during 1924-1930 it was named "The Word of Peasants", During 1930-1990 it was named "Lenin Truth". From 1991 the newspaper was re-registered as the organ of the local administration and the work collective, in 1933 the newspaper got the present name. On present days the newspaper founder are the Leningrad Oblast Committee for Information Policy and Telecommunication, the Lodeynoye Pole District Administration and the newspaper editorial board. The newspaper is published once a week, the circulation is five thousand copies. The newspaper throws light on the economic, social and political and culture life of the district and oblast. In 1929-1930 the magazine "The Literary Pathes" was published as the supplement for the newspaper. Poems and prose works of local authors were published in the magazine. On present days the literary page is published; the literary society "Verf" ("The Shipyard") worked at the newspaper . The pages of the Ladoga parish "The Orthodox Area near the River Svir " and the Lodeynoye Pole Parish "The Ringing of the Svirsky Church Bell" are published in the newspaper. There are columns of the local history "Know Your Region", "By Inmost Pathes" (with the participation of research workers of the Low Svir Reserve), "The Distant - the Near", "Foreshortened of History". The newspaper organizes the football and chess tournaments.
