CHERVYAKOV, Yevgeny Veniaminovich (1899 – 1942, Mga Urban Settlement , Kirovsk District), director, actor, scriptwriter, writer of political essays. In 1918 he graduated from drama studio in Ufa City, in 1927 he graduated from Moscow Cinema College (modern Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography - VGIK) in Moscow. From the middle of 1920s he worked as a film actor and was an assistant of V.R. Gardin, together they shot films “Zolotoy Zapas” (“Gold Reserve”), “Krest i Mauzer” (“Cross and Mauser”)(1925), “Poet I Tsar” (“Poet and Tsar”)(1927), he played the role of A.S. Puskin in the film based on co-written with Gardin scenario. From 1926 to 1938 Chervyakov worked as an actor and a director at film studios “Lenfilm”, “Vostokfilm” and “Mosfilm”. He shot about 20 films and worked as an actor and scriptwriter in many of them: “Devushka c Dalekoy Reky” (“A Girl from a Faraway River”) (1927), “Goroda I Gody” (“Cities and Years”) (1930), “Zakliuchennye” (“Prisoners”) (1936), musical film “Stanitsa Dalnyaya” (Cossack Village Dalnyaya) (1940). He was in films “Novy Vavilon” (“New Babylon”), “Zagovor Mertvykh” (“Conspiracy of the Dead”), “Krov Zemly” (“The Earth’s Blood”), “Try Soldata” (“Three Soldiers”), etc. Chervyakov was a founder of lyric and poetic trend in the Soviet cinema. In the summer 1941 he shot a short antifascist film (it was included in “Boevoy Kinosbornik” (“Battle Films Collection”) № 2). He was an author of numerous film scripts, articles about his own work in the film industry. In August 1941 Chervyakov became a volunteer and was sent to guerrilla detachment. In October 1941 he served in a special punitive squad. In February 1942 he was wounded in the battle near Mga Urban Settlement and died in hospital.
