Andreyev, Leonid Nikolayevich (1871-1919), a writer, playwright. Leonid Nikolayevich Andreyev graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Moscow University in 1897. He appeared as a defence counsel during 1897 - 1902. His first story was published in 1892. The most famous Andreyev's works are the narrative "Zhizn o. Vasiliya Fiveiskogo" ("The Life of the Father Basil Fiveisky", 1904); stories: "Krasny smekh" ("The Red Laugh", 1905), "Iuda Iskariot I drugiye" ("Judas Iscariot and othes", 1907), "Rasskaz o semi poveshennykh" ("Seven Who Were Hanged", 1908); dramas: "K zvyezdam" ("To Stars", 1906), "Zhizn cheloveka" ("The Life of Man", 1907), "Dni nashey zhizni" ("Days of Our Life", 1908), "Tot, k to poluchayet poshchechini" ("He Who Gets Slapped", 1916); the tragedy "Anatema" (1908). From April to October 1917 Andreyev was the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "The Russian Will" in Petrograd. From 1908 Andreyev with his family settled in Vammelsuu village (now it is Serovo settlement , the Kurortny District of Saint Petersburg) where he built the original house according to the architect project of A. A. Oll (the house was not survived). Andreyev's house was visited by painters: I.Ye. Repin, V.A. Serov, I.I. Brodsky, writers: M. Gorky, K.I. Chukovsky, A.S. Serafimovich and others. From the autumn of 1918 to May 1919 Andreyev lived in Tyurisyevya village (now it is Ushkovo settlement, the Kurortny District of Saint Petersburg), in July-August 1919 he lived in the estate of the timber merchant S.L. Gurevich in Tervus village on the northern shore of Ladoga Lake (now Tervu settlement, Karelia). Leonid Nikolayevich Andreyev died on September 12, 1919 in the country house of the writer F.N. Falkovsky (The house was not survived) in Neyvola village (now it is Gorkovskoye settlement, the Vyborg District). Initially Andreyev was buried in the chapel in A.K. Gorbik-Lange's country house in Neyvola village. In 1924 Andreyev's ashes was moved to the Cemetery of Kartavtsev in Metsyakyulya village (now it is Molodyezhnoye settlement, the Kurortny District of Saint Petersburg), and in 1956 his ashes was moved to the Literatorskiye Mostki necropolys of the Volkovo Cemetery in Saint Petersburg.
