FORNOSOVO, an urban settlement in Tosno District. Population: 4,900. It is situated at Novolisino Station at the crossing of the Gatchina-Tosno and Pavlovsk-Novgorod railway lines. It appeared in 1949 as a workers’ settlement for development of peat deposits and construction of a peat briquette factory (the peat production is now terminated.) F. has a culture center, library, and children’s school of music. There are two correctional colonies in F. In 1993, the Church of St. . Seraphim of Sarov was sanctified in Colony No. 3; in 2001, the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God was sanctified in Colony No. 4.
