Odoevsky, Vladimir Fyodorovich, Prince (1804-1869), a writer, philosopher, musical critic, public figure, full state councillor (1845), steward of the household (1858), senator (1861). He graduated from the Noble Boarding School at the Moscow University in 1822. Odoevsky was the Head of "The Society of Lovers of Wisdom" during 1823-1825. In 1826 he moved into St. Petersburg, served in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other capital departments. During 1846-1861 Odoevsky was the Emperor Public Library associate director and the Rumyantsev's Museum chief. He was the host of the famous literary salon which was visited by A.G. Griboyedov, V.A. Zhukovsky, I.A. Krylov, Prince P.A. Vyazemsky, A.S. Pushkin, Count V.A. Sologub, M.Yu. Lermontov, N.V. Gogol, V.G. Belinsky, I.P. Myatlev, F. Liszt, H. Berlioz, A.S. Dargomyzhsky and others. During 1846-1855 Odoyevsky was the Head of "The Society of visiting poor petitioners" and an organizer of first orphan-asylums in Russia. Odoevsky's works were published for the first time in 1820. Odoevsky is the author of fantastic stories "Pyestriye skazki" ("Mixed Tales"; 1833), narratives "Knyazhna Mimi" ("Princess Mimi"; 1834), "Knyazhna Zizi" ("Princess Zizi"; 1839), the two-part novel "Salamandra" (1841, 1844), the collection of novellas and philosophy discussions "Russkiye nochi" ("Russian Nights"; 1844) and others, articles on music life issues. In 1862, in connection with moving the Rumyantsev's Museum into Moscow, Odoevsky left St. Petersburg. Odoevsky owned the estate of Ronka (Ronkassari) located in 12 km from Vyborg Town (now it is Otradnoye settlement of the Vyborg District). Ronka, a country estate
