USHAKI, a settlement in Tosno District. Population: 1823. The settlement appeared at Ushaki railway station after the St. Petersburg-Moscow branch was opened in 1851. The St. Petersburg-Moscow highway also extends across U. The toponym originates from Novgorod’s name Ushak. The Tosno pilot vegetation protection station is located in U. On the basis of the culture center there is a leisure and amateur creativity center within the framework of which an ethnic culture center functions in contact with the ethnic communities of Tosno District. A library is available. The church of St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker and St. Tsarina Alexandra the Martyr is active. The construction of a stone church of the icon of Our Lady of Kazan is underway. Ushaki village located on the right bank of the Tosna River (population: 984) is a separate locality.
