"Svirskiye ogni" ("The Svir Lights"), a newspaper

"Svirskiye ogni" ("The Svir Lights"; Podporozhye town, 3 Isakov Street), a social and political newspaper of the Podporozhye District. It was founded on September 1, 1931 as the organ of the District Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (Bolsheviks) and the District Soviet. From 1931 to 1932 the newspaper was named "Podporozhskaya pravda" ("Podporozhye's Truth") and from 1933 to 1991 it was called "Svirskaya pravda" ("The Svir Truth"). In 1991 the newspaper was re-registered as the organ of the local administration and working collective and was got its contemporary name. On the present days the newspaper founders are the Leningrad Oblast Committee for Information Policy and Telecommunication, the Administration of the Podporozhye District and the editorial board. The newspaper is issued three times a week, its circulation is 4 thousand copies. There is the local history column "Istorichesky rakurs" ("The Historical Perspective") in the newspaper. The editorial offices workers are winners of many creative competitions including the All-Russian competition "Zolotoye pero" ("The Golden Nib", 2004, 2006)
