MUKHINA Nina Mikhaylovna (1911 – 2000), a librarian. She got an external degree at a library college. In the 1930s with her family moved to the Urals region, during the Great Patriotic War and for some years after the war she was in charge of libraries, including children ones, in the city of Chelyabinsk. In 1950s she returned to Leningrad and worked as methodologist on work with children in Central City Library named after V. V. Mayakovsky. With the foundation of Leningrad Oblast Children Library (LODB) in 1967 she was appointed its first director and held the post until 1972. N. M. Mukhina made a great contribution to organizing LODB and its development as major regional methodological centre in the area of reading for children and library work with children. She is also author of a range of profile articles and methodological plans / programmes. She was buried in St Petersburg.
