BEGGEROV Aleksandr Karlovich (1841-1914, Gatchina Town), an artist, an academician at St.Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts (1899), a honorary member of the Academy of Fine Arts (1912). A son of an artist Beggerov K.P. He was educated at Engineering and Artillery Colleges in St. Petersburg (1853-63). An auditor student at the Academy of Fine Arts (1870, 1873), a student of Klodt M.K. He worked in Paris under the guidance of Bogoliubov A.P., he took lessons from Bonnat L.J.F. Beggerov served as an officer on board of a frigate "Svetlana", from 1878 he worked as an artist at the Admiralty. In the period from 1866 to 1868 he took part in round-the-world expeditions. Beggerov mostly painted marine landscapes and sights of seaports. He was a member of the Society for Circulating Art Exhibitions (since 1876) and a member and founder of Russian Watercolour Painters' Society (1887). From 1899 to 1914 Beggerov lived in Gatchina Town where he died and was buried in the town cemetery. A house where he lived in Gatchina Town in the period 1904-07 still exists (8, Sovetskaya st.).
