Subject / Architecture/Country estates

Vilpovitsy (Lapina), a country estate in the Lomonosov district near the village of Vilpovitsy. In 1727 lands of the former Zaborovsky Grange with villages of Filippovskaya, Livonskaya and Chudinova belonged to the state were granted by Emperor Peter II to the Chief-cook Iogann-Burkhard Felten . The owner built the estate there and named it Lapala or Lapina. The River Kishkina, run there, got the same name. All constructions of the estate were wooden, fruit gardens were laid out around them. Since 1746bFelten's widow had owned with the grange. In the late 1770s a service yard surrounded with heavy flag stone walls was built (it is presumed that the author of the project was Yu.M. Felten, a distant relative of the estate owner). In the early 1780s the estate was passed to Brigadier P.V. Skvortsov owned with the estate during 30 years. Under him a large artificial lake with the weir on the river was made, a dam with a mill was built, the estate was surrounded with the bank (it is preserved partly). In 1854 a brickworks was built to the north of the mill. The new stone manor house with ponted windows and pinnacle-towers was constructed most likely at the same time. On present day many stone constructions are preserved, in the garden the kolkhoz's vegetable garden is placed.
