"Vuoksa", an art festival

“VUOKSA”, international art festival. It has been held since 1998 in Svyatogorsk Town. The festival participants are art groups from Svyatogorsk Town and other Leningrad Oblast settlements situated on the banks of the Vuoksa River (hence the festival name): Lesogorsky Urban Settlement, Kamennogorsk Town, Vozrozhdeniye Settlement, Borodinskoye Settlement, etc. International status the festival acquired due to participation of Imatra Town (Finland), the nearest neighbor of Svyatogorsk Town. Contests are held in three nominations: academic choirs and soloists, folk art groups, instrumental groups, choreography and theatre groups, circus groups, amateur poets and composers. Prize-winners are awarded diplomas and presents. Contests are finished with gala concerts, which are held in three towns in turn: in May – in Imatra Town, in October – in Priozersk Town, in December – in Svyatogorsk Town. Every year the number of participants increases: from 300 people in 1998 to 1100 people in 2006 (59 art groups from 10 towns and villages.). Dubenetskaya,Nataliya Vladimirovna
