"Gatchinskaya pravda" ("Gatchina Truth"), a newspaper

"Gatchinskaya pravda" ("The Gatchina Truth") (15 Khokhlob Street, Gatchina Town), a social and political newspaper of Gatchina Town and the Gatchina District. It was founded on May 15, 1931, as the organ of the Town Committee of VKP(b) (Communist Party of the Soviet Union (Bolsheviks)) and the Town Soviet. Firstly it was named "Krasnogvardeyets", from 1931 till 1943 it was named "Krasnogvardeyskaya pravda" ("The Krasnogvardeysk Truth"). During 1931-1934 some documents were published in Finnish. The travelling editorial staff worked during 1932-1935 and in 1954. During 1941-1943, the occupation time, the newspaper were published in secret. In 1991 the newspaper was re-registered as the organ of the local administration and the work collective. On the present days the newspaper founders are the Leningrad Oblast Committee for Information Policy and Telecommunication, the Administration of Gatchina Town and the Gatchina District and the editorial board. The newspaper is published three times a week, its circulation is 7.5 thousand copies, the Saturday circulation is 8.5 thousand copies. Supplements: "Nauchniye sredi" ("The Sientific Wednesdays"), "Priorat" (the local history edition), "Kontrast" ("The Contrast"; the supplement for yuong people), "Gatchina za rulyom" ("Gatchina's drivers"). The newspaper was awarded with the special diploma of the All-Russian competition "A Patriot of Russia - 2004". In the 1930s the Soviet writer V.A. Kochetov worked in the newspaper.
