Vasily Antonovich Kosyakov (1862-1921), an architect, artist, teacher. He graduated from the Institute of Civil Engineers in 1885. In 1897 V.A. Kosyakov became an architect of Synod economic administration. From 1888 he became a teacher, in 1900 - a professor and during 1905-1921 he was the first elected director of the Institute of Civil Engineers. The significant constructions built by Kosyakov: the church of the Mother of God, the Merciful in the Galernaya (Galley) Harbour (1889-1898; it was built jointly with the architect D.K. Prussak), the Church of the Theophany on Gutuyevsky Island (1891-1899; it was built jointly with the architect B.K. Pravzdik), the town residence of the Kiev-Pecherskaya Laura (1895-1900; now it is the town residence of the Monastery of Optina). The most significant creation of V.A. Kosyakov is the Marine Cathedral in Yakornaya Square in Kronshtadt (1902-1913). Among other constructions in St. Petersburg there is: the building of the Noble Assembly in Manezhnaya Square (1912-1914; it was built jointly with his brothers Vl.A. and G.A. Kosyakov). Vasily Antonovich Kosyakov built in the Voronezh and yaroslavl Gubernias, in Astrakhan, Brest, Liyepaye, Batumi. He was the author of scientific works and handouts. He built the Church of the Holy Trinity (1899-1903; the village of Gora-Valday, Lomonosov district), the Church of St. John the Theologian, Apostle (1901-1905; the settlement of Ivanovskoye, Kingisepp district), the wooden Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (1906-1908; Sablino Station, Tosno district), the Church of the the Intercession of the Mother of God in the The Porechsky Convent of the Intercession of the Mother of God (1904-1908; the village of Kozya Gora, Slantsi district). Vasily Antonovich Kosyakov was buried in the Novodevichye cemetery in St. Petersburg.
