Stakenschneider, Andrey Ivanovich (1802, the grange of Ivanovka, the present days Gatchina District -1865), an architect, full state councillor (1858). He graduated the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts in 1821. From 1834 Stakenschneider was an academician, from 1844 he became a professor and honorary free public man. From 1856 Stakenschneider became an architect of the imperial court. The Mariinsky, Nikolayevsky, Novo-Mikhailovsky Grand Duke Palaces, the Beloselsky-Belozerskys' Palace in Nevskii Prospect were built according to Stakenschneider's projects in St. Petersburg. He built in Peterhof, Oraniyenbaum, Strelna, Znamenka, Pushkin, Pavlovsk, Gatchina, in Baltic States, Novgorod, in the Crimea and other places. He decorated the Hermitage. In 1836 Stakenschneider built the stone manor-house in Field-Marshal - General I.I. Dibich's estate of Zabalkanskoye (Staroye Garkalovo Village, the Kingisepp District). In 1842-1845 he built a palace in the estate of Gostilitsi. In the St. Petersburg Gubernia Stakenschneider owned the estate of Ivanovka where he was born. He regularly visited the estate during his life and made it his home in 1862. Andrey Ivanovich Stakenschneider was buried in the holy Trinity-St. Sergius Pustin (Hermitage) of St. Petersburg.
