"Yalkala", a historic and ethnographic museum-reserve, the

"Yalkala", a historic and ethnographic museum-reserve (the Vyborg district, the settlement of Ilyichevo) is located on 12 rm from Zelenogorsk Town between lakes Dolgoye and Krasavitsa. The museum was established in 1993 on the basis of memorial museum of V.I. Lenin that has been since October of 1940. The exposition devoted to the history of the Karelian Isthmus, ethnography of the aboriginal population, the way of life of yalkala Village (now it's the settlement of Ilyichevo). The condition of a Finnish khutor of the first third of the 20th century was recreated. Some sections of the museum exposition tells about Lenin's life in the khutor of Parviainen in August of 1917, about last days of G.V. Plekhanov which died on 30 May of 1918 in a sanatorium located near Yalkala Village, about staying the artist A.A. Benois and the composer S.Rant in this area. The exhibition of wooden sculpture by the sculptor A.Ya. Kharlamenko on "Kalevala" motives is presented on the territory of the museum-estate. The International festival of traditional arts of the Karelian Isthmus population, the New Year and Pancake festival performances are held here. The museum-reserve is visited by about 12 thousand people per year, it organises international scientific conferences.
