The Church of St. George the Victorious, Great Martyr ("Suvorovskaya") (Novaya Ladoga Town, 10 Engels Prospekt). A small wooden church of the Apostles Peter and Paul was built in 1764 by soldiers of the Suzdal Regiment under the command of A.V. Suvorov for his money. According to a legend Suvorov brought logs together with soldiers and made a cross by his own hands. The church, costructed in traditions of the Russian wooden architecture, was surrounded with a tunnel and crowned with one dome. Until 1768 the church was used as the regiments one, in 1802 it was added to the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God, renewed and re-consecrated in the name of St. George the Great Martyr. The church was repaired in 1820 for the money of Count D.I. Khvostov. In 1861 the stone side-chapel of the Placing of the Honourable Robe of the Most Holy Mother of God with the bell tower with high piramidal roof, in the Russian style, was built for the money of the merchant Ye.I. Iliynsky, it was consecrated in 1863 in the memory about the liberation of peasants from the serfdom. After the repair, which was done during 1876-1877, the church was consecrated on 29 June 1878. In the church there was a bust of A.V. Suvorov. On 26 July 1924 the church was closed. From 1951 a warehouse of a district centre of foodstuffs was placed in the church building, then there was a workshop of New-Year tree decorations, then the enterprise "Lakond" occupied the building. In February 1989 wooden parts of the church were burned, then the church was dismantled. The lower tiers of the bell tower and stone narthex were survived. From 2005 the restoration work was begun. The building is supposed to use for a museum.
