Subject / Religion. Church/Orthodox churches

The Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God (the Tosno District, Shapki Village, 5 Svetly Pereulok). The original stone church was built before 1504 in Gori Village close to Shapki Village (in the territory of Yarvosolsky Nikolsky Pogost), after 1593 it was not mentioned. The new stone church was constructed during 1781-1786, rebuilt in 1847, in 1911 it was burned. During 1911-1917 the church was temporarily placed in the stone library wing in the estate park of A.D. Balashov (the wing was built in the first third of the 19th century). In 1918 the church was restored to the design of the architect A.P. Aplaksin (?). The parish included villages of Shapki, Yerzunovo, Beryezovka, Staroselye, Belogolovo, Pendikovo, Nurma. In 1936 the church was closed in 1936, the building was adapted for a community centre. During 1943-1944 the building was destroyed as the result of bombardments. In 1992 the library wing was given to the new-born community. After carring out the restoration works in the wing in 1995 the church was consecrated, the public worships were begun to perform.
