Rubtsov, Nikoly Mikhaylovich (1936-1971), a poet. Rubtsov was brought up at the children's home in Nikolskoye village of the Vologda Oblast from 1943 till 1950. He attended at the M. Gorky Literature Institute from 1962 but did not graduated from it. From the age of 16 Rubtsov knocked about the country, worked as a librarian, stoker in a fishing-boat, was at service for a fixed period at the North Navy, was a worker at the Kirov Factory in Leningrad. At the end of his life Pubtsov settled in Vologda city. Rubtsov's first poems were published in the newspaper "Na strazhe Zapolyarya" ("On Guard of Transpolaria") and in the anthology "Polyarnoye siyaniye" ("Aurora", 1957). Rubtsov is the author of poem collections "Lirika" ("Lyric Poems", 1965), "zvezda poley" ("The Star og Fields", 1967), "Dusha khranit" ("The Soul Kept", 1969), "Sosen shum" ("The Murmur of Pines", 1970), "Zelyeniye tsveti" ("Green Flowers", 1971). Many Rubtsov's poems are set to music. In 1955 Pubtsov lived in Priyutino settlement (now it is a part of Vsevolozhsk town), worked as a metalworker at an artillery proving ground. In 1959 after demobilization from army Rubtsov lived in Nevskaya Dubrovka urban settlement where a street was named after him.
