THE PODPOROZHYE CENTRAL LIBRARY (9 Lenin Prospekt, Podporozhye Town). The library was founded in 1944. In 1977 in the process of integration of the district libraries into a centralized library network it was given the status of central district library. Since 2006 it has been the central library of Podporozhye Town. The library fund numbers 55,000 items, with 4,500 readers. The annual number of visits is 42,000, with 115,000 loans a year. One of the main trends in the library’s activity is providing environmental education. The library also does research into and collects materials related to the history and everyday life of the Veps people. Since 1987 it has been participating in “Drevo zhizni” (The Tree of Life) Veps folklore festival held in the Leningrad Oblast. Blyudova, Lyudmila Konstantinovna
