Boris Vilde's museum-estate

The museum-estate of Boris Vilde was founded in 2002 in Yastrebino Village of the Volosovo District (it is a part of the Besedsky Culture and Leisure Centre) in the house built in the early 20th century by the peasant V.F. Golubev (the maternal grandfather of Vilde). The exhibition devoted to the life and work of Boris Vilde (1908-1942), an ethnographer, a Hero of the French Resistance. The Vilde family lived in Yastrebino during 1912-1919 till their emigration to Estonia after the White Army defeat. From 1932 Vilde lived in France. He graduated from the Sorbonne and Higher School of living Eastern languages, worked in the Museum of Human (Paris). In 1940 Vilde, he was one of the organizer of the Resistance, he was executed by Nazy. He was awarded posthumously with the Resistance medal. The exhibition is in the making. Documents concerning the biography of Vilde, the Resistance movement in France, the aviation regiment "Normandy-Neman", the local histoly are presented at the exhibition. More then 300 people visit the museum every year.
