"Vyborg Castle", the State Museum

"The Vyborg Castle", the state museum of the history of Vyborg Town. The museum was created in July of 1960, the first exhibitions was opened on July 30, 1961. The museum has been plaсed in the Vyborg Castle since 1964. Permanent exhibitions opened in 2005: "The Ancient Guard of the Town" (the history of the Vyborg Castle), "The Nature of the Karelian Isthmus", "Swedish Vyborg", "Vyborg is a Border Town" (the history of the Vyborg Customs), "The Vyborg Marine Battle of 1790" (materials on underseas archaeology), "The Karelian Isthmus during World War II". About 40 temporary exhibitions from different museums of Russia open every year. Tourists can visit St. Olaf Tower view ground (the high is 48.6 m) from which the view of Vyborg Town and its outskirts within a radius of 30 km is opened up. The museum funds included more then 100 thousand of units (including collections of archaeological items of the 13th-16th centuries that were found during the archeological dig on Zamkovy (Castle) Island). Science conferences and seminars, holidays, folk festivals, concerts and performances (the festival "May Tree", the jazz music frstival "The Serenade of the Vyborg Castle", mhistorical and military festival "Knight Castle" and others) are regularly held in the castle.
