THE PIKALYOVO CENTRAL TOWN LIBRARY (25 Sovetskaya Street, Pikalyovo Town). The library was founded in 1953. In 1954, when Pikalyovo Settlement received the status of a town, it became a town library. Between 1977 and 1992 was a branch within Boksitogorsk centralized library network. Since 1992 it has been the town central library. Its general-purpose fund numbers around 44,000 items, with over 4,000 readers and up top 86,5 loans annually. The library is information, educational and cultural centre for the town. Since 1960 it has run “Zemlyaki” (The Compatriots) literary association; the library also actively participates in publishing and promoting the books of the town authors and organizes their meetings with readers.
