THEOLOGICAL INSTITUTE OF INGERI EVANGELICAL-LUTHERAN CHURCH NAMED AFTER S.-J. LAURIKKALA (Kolbino Village, Vsevolozhsk District). In 1993 the Synod of Ingeri Unified Lutheran Church made a decision to found a Centre of Deacon Education. In 1995 a complex of wooden buildings was built. In 2001 it was decided to reorganize the Centre into an Institute, the Institute charter was registered in February 2005. In 2003 a stone building was erected (design was made by Finnish architect J. Rennonen), it was consecrated on September 21, 2003. The programs of studies are as follows: theological course for beginners; religious studies bachelor; courses for cantors, youth curators, deacons, Sunday school teachers; refresher course for pastors. At present there are 19 first, second and third year students ( 7-8 students are admitted every year), together with teachers and foreign students there are 37 people at the University. Lectures are delivered in Russian and Finnish. The Institute Library contains 14 thousand books. In the summer time a camp for deacons is organized. The Institute also houses a little asylum for the elderly. Devine services are held in the nearby Saint George Lutheran Church.
